And here is a link that will explain a bit about using Glogster EDU with a Mac, for those of you that will be doing some of this from home (and have Macs).

Teacher Introduction

My name is Kate Street (Ms. Street to you all), and I am really excited to be your teacher during this quarter. I never fully introduced myself, so wanted to take a quick second to do that!

This is my husband and I just before we had our lovely daughter....

Zora! Now she is 5.

And then there is Maude...we have had Maude since she was a puppy - 12 years ago!

I love to knit, read, watch movies, make cookies, do research (computer/library), and hang out with my friends and family.

I took my time getting through college - but eventually ended up at the UofA and earned my BA in Literature, and my MA in Library Sciences. I also studied sign language (for awhile I wanted to be an ASL teacher), anthropology and art, in college. My parents were both teachers while I was growing up, and my husband has been a teacher for about 10 years. My mom was my geometry teacher when I was in 10th grade.

I currently read a lot of comic books and watch the Teen Titans, as this is Zora's obsession right now.

I found my 10th grade yearbook a few months ago, and pulled this picture from it:

I always loved seeing my teachers' high school pictures.

Thanks for welcoming me so nicely - I really appreciate you all - you are my teachers this quarter as well, as I am really still trying to figure this all out for the first time.

Suggested Science Fiction

For your Outside Reading Assignments, you must choose a Science Fiction novel. Here are a few you might consider.

See this list for more good suggestions!

Some of these books are disturbing and/or graphic in nature (much of Science Fiction is - particularly the Dystopian Sci Fi), so please choose wisely, with this in mind - some of these books may be offensive or too graphic for your particular tastes.

Please see me if you would like to choose a book that is not on one of these lists.
